Privacy Policy

Callsign is designed to collect as little as possible. The Mac app creates visible aliases in a folder you choose, stores the local state needed to manage them, and does not send app usage, alias names, or folder paths to a server.

Effective date: June 5, 2026

Summary

  • Callsign does not require an account.
  • Callsign does not use analytics, advertising SDKs, telemetry, tracking pixels, or targeted advertising.
  • Callsign does not transmit alias names, folder paths, local settings, app usage, or search activity.
  • Callsign does not index your private files and does not run a background agent.
  • The website is static and uses no analytics, no external scripts, and no third-party fonts.

Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy covers the Callsign Mac app, the website at getcallsign.com, and direct support communications. In this policy, "Callsign," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the Callsign app publisher identified in the Mac App Store listing and through the contact information on this website.

Information the Mac app does not collect

Callsign is designed with no account, no telemetry, no analytics, no tracking, and no network dependency. The app does not collect or send us:

  • your name, email address, or account identity;
  • your documents, file contents, browser history, contacts, photos, calendars, or messages;
  • the folder path you choose for aliases;
  • the alias names you create or remove;
  • your app usage, searches, clicks, or diagnostics;
  • device identifiers for advertising or analytics.

Local app data on your Mac

Callsign may store local data on your Mac so the app can perform the task you asked it to do. This may include:

  • the destination folder permission or security-scoped bookmark for the folder you selected;
  • local settings for the app;
  • a local record of aliases Callsign created, so managed aliases can be removed safely;
  • the bundled alias catalog and the aliases you choose to install.

This data stays on your Mac. Callsign does not transmit it to us. You can remove visible alias files from Finder, use Callsign's removal flow for managed aliases, or delete the app and its local container data using normal macOS controls.

Visible aliases and selected folders

Callsign creates normal visible alias files only in the folder you choose. The app does not automatically place aliases on the Desktop or Dock, does not install a launcher, does not replace Spotlight, and does not modify system apps. The familiar names are labels for visible aliases that open native Mac tools.

Website privacy

The Callsign website is a static website. It uses no analytics, no advertising pixels, no behavioral tracking, no external JavaScript, and no third-party web fonts.

The website is hosted through Cloudflare. Like most web infrastructure providers, Cloudflare may process technical request information such as IP address, user agent, request URL, referrer, timestamp, and security/performance logs in order to deliver, secure, cache, and troubleshoot the website. We do not use those logs for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Support email

If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message content, screenshots, attachments, app version, macOS version, and any troubleshooting details you include. We use support messages to answer your request, troubleshoot issues, improve Callsign, and maintain records needed for security or legal reasons.

Please do not send passwords, private documents, financial information, government identifiers, or other sensitive information in support messages. Support is handled outside the app by email; Callsign does not include an in-app support form that sends app data to us.

App Store and Apple

Callsign is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple handles App Store accounts, purchases, downloads, refunds, payment processing, tax records, Family Sharing, and related App Store infrastructure under Apple's own terms and privacy policies. We do not receive your payment card number from Apple.

Apple may provide developers with App Store sales, performance, crash, diagnostic, or analytics information according to Apple's developer tools and user settings. Callsign's App Store privacy answers should match the final app and any Apple developer information the publisher chooses to use.

How we use information

Because the app is local by design, the main information we may use is support information you voluntarily send and technical website delivery data processed by Cloudflare. We use that information to:

  • operate, secure, and deliver the website;
  • respond to support requests;
  • debug problems you report;
  • maintain the app and website;
  • comply with legal obligations and protect against abuse.

Legal bases for processing

Where a legal basis is required, we rely on the basis that fits the context: performing the app or support relationship, our legitimate interests in operating and securing a small product and website, your consent when you choose to contact us or provide information, and compliance with legal obligations.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may share limited information only as needed with:

  • service providers that operate the website, email, support, or security infrastructure;
  • Apple, for App Store distribution, purchases, refunds, and platform operations;
  • law enforcement, regulators, courts, or other parties when required by law or needed to protect rights, safety, or security;
  • a successor if Callsign is transferred, sold, reorganized, or merged, subject to this policy or a notice of updated terms;
  • other parties with your consent.

Retention

Local app data stays on your Mac until you remove aliases, reset app data, or delete the app's local container data. Support messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer your request, understand issues you report, maintain product records, resolve disputes, protect security, or satisfy legal obligations. Website delivery and security logs are retained according to Cloudflare and our operational settings.

Security

Callsign reduces privacy risk by avoiding accounts, servers, analytics SDKs, and app telemetry. The website uses HTTPS and restrictive security headers. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we try to keep the product small enough that there is very little data to protect in the first place.

Children

Callsign is a general utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child sent us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Your choices and rights

You can choose not to contact support, can avoid sending optional troubleshooting details, can delete local alias files, and can remove the app's local data from your Mac.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, non-discrimination, or an appeal of a privacy decision. California residents may have rights to know, delete, correct, limit certain sensitive information uses, opt out of sale or sharing, and receive equal treatment. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

Because Callsign generally does not collect app data, we may not have information that identifies you unless you contacted support. We may need enough information to verify and process a request.

International users

Callsign may be operated from the United States, and service providers such as Apple, Cloudflare, and email providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have data protection laws different from the laws where you live.

Cookies, Do Not Track, and Global Privacy Control

The Callsign website does not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or tracking pixels. Because we do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising, Global Privacy Control and similar browser signals do not change the website experience. Your browser may still send standard request information to Cloudflare as part of delivering the website.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Callsign changes or legal requirements evolve. The effective date at the top of the page shows when it was last updated. If a future version of Callsign materially changes its privacy posture, the policy and App Store privacy answers should be updated before that version ships.

If Callsign adds analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, network features, an in-app support form, account features, or third-party SDKs, this policy and the App Store privacy answers should be updated before that version ships.
